Through Her Eyes is a large-format documentary photo album presenting the work of six Ukrainian women photographers documenting the war in Ukraine.
All contributors were civilians prior to Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Since then, each has taken on roles within Ukraine’s defense effort — including military service, frontline medical work, journalism, and volunteer support — while continuing to document the conflict through photography.
The album brings together 76 images spanning documentary, portrait, and artistic work. Taken on and near the front lines, the photographs offer a direct visual record of the war, focusing on lived experience, daily realities, and the evolving role of women within Ukrainian society during wartime.
Published in a bilingual English–Ukrainian edition, Through Her Eyes is intended as both a contemporary record and a long-term archival document. It is designed for a broad audience including policymakers, researchers, journalists, and cultural institutions.
