Run for Ukraine: Join the 6th Annual Vyshyvanka Run

Celebrate Ukraine's 35th Independence Day and help put lifesaving ambulances on the front line.

This August, the Ukrainian-American community comes together for a cause where every minute matters.

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, Ukrainian Jersey City (UJC) hosts its6th Annual Vyshyvanka Charity Run/Walk on the Jersey City waterfront. The event celebrates the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence and raises funds for UJC's Ambulances for Ukraine initiative.

That initiative delivers evacuation vehicles to combat medics who transport wounded civilians and soldiers to stabilization points and hospitals. These vehicles are often damaged or destroyed under fire, so the need for replacements never stops. To date, UJC has delivered 23 vehicles. Last year's run alone funded two.

More than a race, it is a show of solidarity. Participants are encouraged to wear a vyshyvanka, the traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirt, a symbol of resilience and national identity, or blue and yellow.

The event welcomes runners, walkers, and families of all ages. Registration is $45 per participant; children take part free with registration, and every registrant receives a branded keepsake from Ukrainian Jersey City.
