You’re Invited: An Evening of Ukrainian Heritage in New York, November 9
Help publish an English-language album of 500 historic Ukrainian vyshyvankas.
Dear Friends,
We’d love for you to join us! On Monday, November 9, we are hosting an evening in New York in support of an English-language catalogue of one of the largest collections of Ukrainian embroidery.
About Khrystyna Rachytska
Khrystyna Rachytska is a Lviv-based designer whose brand of Ukrainian ethnic dress is built on hand embroidery and years of studying authentic folk costume from across Ukraine’s regions. Over time, she has assembled a collection of 500 Ukrainian vyshyvankas, some of them more than 150 years old. Khrystyna is also working toward UNESCO recognition for Ukrainian embroidery, and a feature on her work is expected in Forbes.
Why This Project Matters
A vyshyvanka is more than clothing.
Each pattern carries the symbols, techniques, and memory of a specific region and generation. As Russia’s war continues to target Ukrainian culture and identity, documenting this heritage is one of the most direct ways to protect it. An English-language album will make the collection accessible to museums, researchers, and audiences around the world, and help preserve this national treasure for future generations.
